KCR holds talks with Governor on AP’s demand of Section 8

KCRChief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan n Monday and discussed with him on the ongoing tiff cash-for-vote-scam in the Telugu speaking states of AP and Telangana.  The meeting has lasted for nearly an hour-and-a-half, and KCR apparently has discussed the AP government’s demand of invoking Section 8 in common capital Hyderabad.

Mr. Narasimhan sought KCR’s views on Section 8 and other issues between the two states. Ever since AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strictly implement Section 8 in the joint capital, the matter has earned the significance. Mr.Naidu has claimed that ‘Andhras are not safe in Hyderabad.’

KCR is reportedly against invoking Section 8 of the Reorganisation Act, and stated that the Law and Order situation in Hyderabad was under control. “There was no need to frame ‘operational guidelines’ for implementation of Section 8 since the Act was crystal clear,” the Telangana CM also told Governor.

KCR has also tried to inform Narasimhan that the AP government was raking up the issue of Section 8, as its CM Chandrababu Naidu wants to cover up his role in the cash-for-vote scandal. It is yet unclear if KCR has asked for Governor’s permission to summon Chandrababu for questioning as a part of the probe.

KCR also briefed Narasimhan on the two new irrigation projects Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme and Dindi lift irrigation taken up by Telangana State government. While the AP government has been opposing the projects, KCR reportedly informed that it is the United AP government which has earlier given the clearances for the projects.
