Anglo Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson in a solidarity and support meet held for him by Anglo Indian community on Tuesday responded on the cash-for-vote-scandal.
Mr. Stephenson, speaking for the first time after the scandal broke said, “I knew what I was doing. I did it for people of Telangana state. I did it for the benefit of Telangana, and if one Elvis dies there will be thousands like him.”
Adding that he did not even touch 1 Cr in his entire business career, the nominated MLA claimed that he would have accepted the bribe that if he wanted to gain monetary benefits, but he is honest and sincere.
Stephenson has thanked his entire community for their support and backing him, and he asked everyone to pray for him. The MLA has further added, “I will work to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.”
Stephenson and his daughter Jessica Stephenson will be giving their statement before the magistrate on 17th June.
Meanwhile in a surprising development, the ACB has changed the Investigation Officer of the cash-for-vote scandal. While earlier it was DSP level official who supervised the probe, but now it is Additional SP level official who will conduct the probe. Malla Reddy who worked as Additional SP of Mahbubnagar has been transferred to ACB and appointed as the Investigation Officer of the case.
