Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday will launch the Neeru-Chettu’ programme in Thambalapalle village in Chittoor district. As a part of the water conservation and making the state drought-proof, Naidu has launched the Neeru-Chettu programme.
In order to increase the capacity to store rain and surface water, the Neeru-Chettu programme has been initiated and the state will take up the repairs and maintenance of canals, reservoirs, lift irrigation schemes, check dams and de-silting of tanks in all the districts of the state in the coming months.
Chandrababu Naidu will also hold a review meet with the Ministers and several departments officials including the Rural Development, Forest, Water Resource, Ground Water, MA & UD. Naidu added that the funds will be utilized effectively to the works which cost less but have greater impact.
Plantation, desilting and construction of check dams will be undertaken in the Neeru-Chettu programme from February 19th.
