The Railway Budget is scheduled to be presented in Parliament tomorrow, and being NDA Government’s first full-fledged Railway Budget 2015-16, state AP is expecting of the announcement of the new railway zone.
The railway connectivity sure is important for several of the TDP government’s developmental plans in the state, including developing it as the logistics hub. The major demand of the state is the grant of Separate Railway Zone, and AP is expecting high from the Railway budget in that regard.
The previous railway projects sanctioned to the state in the earlier budgets are going at snail’s pace due to scarcity of funds, and only eight out of twelve originating trains announced from the zone have been started, while only five out of 14 passing trains were introduced. However, the government is hoping that the state gets major share of budgetary allocations for the completion of the pending railway projects, also doubling and new-lines in AP. The newline project including the Vijayawada-New Delhi AP Express is also awaited.
The state government is hoping to get the Guntur-Guntakal-Dharmavaram- line connecting AP Capital on Vijayawada-Guntur stretch and Rayalaseema region will be put on the fast track, as doubling this line will reduce travelling time from eight to six hours.
