The government of AP, as a part of its strategy of winning over the farming community has opted for a significant move.
The government has announced that the crop loan waiver limit will be increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1.5 lakhs as a one-time settlement to the family of the deceased, besides increasing the ex-gratia to families of farmers from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 3.5 lakhs.
AP government has also offered additional benefits including the grant of residential houses under IAY Scheme, pensions and admissions in social welfare schools, hostels for children. The TDP government has taken its decision after having a look at the report that 80% of the deceased debts are more than 2 lakhs to around 10 lakhs.
The revenue department principal secretary J.C. Sharma on Thursday issued the orders to the effect, where the earlier order came in June, 2004. The government has taken the decision in effect to the escalation of prices of agrarian farm in-puts, fertilizers, and investments etc. Mr. Sharma has directed the district collectors to execute the necessary action in the matter accordingly.
