Is government of AP repeating the TS government’s tact of banning a news channel in the state? The Telangana government has earlier banned TV9 and ABN Andhrajyothi channels in the several districts of the state.
Now, AP Government is repeating similar tactic by banning NTV in the state, for reportedly telecasting the negative stories against the State Government regarding Cash-for-Vote scandal. Andhra MSOs (Multiple System Operators) have shut off airing NTV in many districts of the state citing that the channel’s stories on Cash-for-vote scam as the reason.
The TDP leaders including the Party president and state CM Chandbabu Naidu have complained to the Centre on the alleged phone-tapping issue, while KCR and the TRS ministers maintained that the CBN is involved in the note-for-vote-scam bribing the independent nominated MLA Stephenson. The channels went on to air the audio tapes and several programs against the TDP government. These developments have reportedly irritated cable operators in the state, and they have banned the channel.
Both TDP and BJP leaders strongly condemned the act of ban of news channels TV9 and ABN Andhrajyothi in Telangana region. They lashed out CM KCR and TRS government for ruining the media freedom. Now, it is to be seen how the Opposition parties in AP will react to TDP Government’s similar act. Will the Andhra MSOs remain firm on their stand on NTV channel ban?
